What exactly are OPCs?

The abbreviation OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins – natural plant compounds classified as polyphenols. Plants produce a wide variety of polyphenolic compounds, which can be found in various parts of the plant, from fruits and seeds to bark and leaves.

Grape seeds are also among their natural sources, and it is from these that the OPC in the Purely Nutrition formula is derived. A standardised extract is used, meaning that the OPC content is precisely defined and is not based solely on the quantity of the plant extract itself.

The most interesting part of the grape may not be where you’d expect it to be.

We value grapes primarily for their juicy fruit, but there is also much of interest hidden in their tiny seeds. Owing to the characteristic plant compounds they contain, they are now a prized raw material for the production of concentrated extracts.

This part of the fruit, to which we usually pay little attention when eating grapes, has thus taken on an entirely new role in the world of modern dietary supplements.

OPC as part of a thoughtful self-care routine.

Our interest in nutrition often changes in line with our lifestyle. During busier periods, a hectic daily routine or a less varied diet, many people begin to pay closer attention to which ingredients they wish to include in their routine.

Purely Nutrition OPC is therefore an interesting choice, particularly for:

  • active individuals who devote a lot of time to exercise and sport,
  • anyone with a dynamic lifestyle and a hectic daily routine,
  • periods of increased daily stress,
  • anyone wishing to supplement their diet with a selected source of OPC,
  • those who like to opt for lesser-known plant compounds when choosing dietary supplements.

Frequently Asked Questions about the product

Label 18:1 means a high concentration – to obtain 1 kg of pure extract, as much as 18 kg of grape seeds are needed. The content is standardized to as much as 95% OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins), which ensures high quality and precisely measured content of the key active ingredient.

Taking with food reduces the possibility of slight discomfort in the stomach, which can be caused in some individuals by naturally occurring tannins in grape seeds. Likewise, liquid and food help with the optimal passage of the capsule through the digestive tract.

If you have difficulty swallowing capsules, you can open it and mix the powder into water, juice, or a smoothie. Just keep in mind that natural OPC has a characteristic, somewhat tart or bitter taste.
