Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that the body cannot produce on its own. Lutein is mainly present in vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli, and corn, while zeaxanthin is found in peppers, eggs, and some types of vegetables.

Lutein is a yellow-orange carotenoid concentrated in the eyes, primarily in the retina. The retina is responsible for detecting light stimuli and converting them into nerve impulses, which the brain then processes and interprets as images.
