Lion's mane mushroom, scientifically known as Hericium erinaceus, is an edible and functional mushroom with an extremely recognizable appearance - instead of classic caps, it has long, hanging "hairs" or "spikes" resembling a lion's mane, hence the reason for its other name, lion's mane.
This interesting mushroom mainly grows on dead or weakened hardwood - preferably on beech, oak, chestnut, and maple trees. It is found in moderately warm and humid forests.
It originates from Asia, especially from China, Japan, and Korea, but it also thrives in North America and Europe, where it is becoming increasingly well-known. Its cultivation mainly takes place on sawdust or wood, often in controlled conditions due to its rarity in nature.
Lion's mane has been used in Chinese and Japanese tradition for centuries, where it is valued for its beneficial effects, which is why it has been given names such as "smart mushroom", "brain mushroom".
In Taoist tradition, it was called the "mushroom of long life", while Japanese monks believed that it supports spiritual focus and meditation.
Today, it has become popular as a functional mushroom, included in dietary supplements, powders, capsules, or even as a culinary specialty, as it has a mild taste reminiscent of crab or lobster, so it is often found on the menu of vegans and vegetarians who use it as a meat substitute.
Due to its numerous beneficial properties, lion's mane mushroom is recommended to everyone, especially:
Organic Lion's Mane mushroom is made from 100% organic farming. Its powder form offers multiple ways of use - either on its own (mixed in water) or preparing a functional drink (added to coffee, cocoa, or matcha) or as an addition to various dishes, both savory and sweet.
In addition, the supplement uses only 100% sporocarp or fruiting body - the best part of the mushroom responsible for reproduction, which offers a higher content of active ingredients and thus higher biological usability.

Yes, lion's mane powder naturally contains polysaccharides, mainly beta-glucans. As it is a powder of dried mushroom and not an extract, the product is not standardised to a specific content of active substances. The polysaccharide content may therefore vary naturally according to growing conditions, harvest and drying method. The average content is approximately 5-12 %.
Powder is ground whole mushroom, containing a natural ratio of all ingredients (polysaccharides, fibers, proteins, fats, etc.) and is not standardized. It has a milder, holistic effect and is suitable for regular use.
Extract, on the other hand, is a concentrate where active substances (e.g. polysaccharides, hericenones) are extracted and standardized. It has a stronger, targeted effect and is used in smaller doses.
